Film rights policy

By submitting a film to SHIFT, filmmakers confirm that they hold all necessary rights for the content included in their submission, including music, archival material, and any third-party content. Filmmakers are solely responsible for clearing all rights and permissions prior to submission.

Submission of a film does not transfer ownership or copyright to the festival. Filmmakers retain full ownership of their work.

By participating in the festival, filmmakers grant [Festival Name] a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Screen the film at the festival, including online and in-person events;

  • Use excerpts, stills, trailers, or promotional materials in festival marketing, social media, and press;

  • Include the film in festival-related programming or educational initiatives.

The festival will credit all filmmakers appropriately and respect the integrity of each work. The festival does not guarantee any compensation for screenings or promotional use.
